Andersen Studio Ceramic Art and Design from the mid-century to the contemporary. Slip-cast wild life sculpture and original functional forms, Handcrafted by Maine Artisans from raw materials found in the USA

The Handcrafted Ceramic Wren Sculpture by Andersen Studio of Maine is a gracefully abstracted rendition of the small wren, capturing the essential characteristics of the small bird, with a finely economized reserve. The result is an elegant and simple sculptural design that epitomizes the classic design that this small American ceramic art and design studio has been producing since mid-twentieth-century. The pleasing sculptural form is decorated with hand brushwork using the Andersen’s original brown decorating slip. The brushwork is spontaneous and reflective of an oriental influence without ever losing it’s distinctly American character. Andersen Studio invites individual expression from its handcraft artisans, which is particularly evident in the execution of the small stoneware wren, as our collection of photographs shows. The handcrafted pottery wren figurine is three inches long.
