All of our vases, bowls and functional items are produced completely by hand. We mix our slip from raw materials and then pour the liquid clay in to a plaster mold of our original design. The slip is pored after it has solidified around the edges of the mold to the desired thickness, The pieces are then fettled, glazed and/or decorated by hand. The result is a product that resembles natural forms of nature, such as rocks that have a generally consistent shape but each individual form has it's own unique variegations. Our glazes use enough flux to create not quite predictable effects within a range of probabilities, which we think of as a characteristic beauty of a hand made product. And of course our product is still produced on the coast of Maine, USA. Each form can be finished off in a number of ways, over the years we have developed many standard patterns such as the Brown Tree pattern and the pewter tree pattern. We do not currently have all of our patterns represented on out website but we are working on it. Our current standard available glazes are White , Ebony, Bronze, Celadon, Pewter, and Mulberry. We also do one of a kind pieces that are more expensive but also unique. We hope to one day b be representing those on our site as well. In the meantime please feel free to ask us what might be available but not shown. We are a small studio working with a small staff.
