A comprehensive and collectible line of ceramic birds. Andersen Studio stoneware birds are classily American. Andersen Studio began as an innovator in American Ceramics Art and design in the mid-century. When the Andersens added ceramic birds to their popular line of handcrafted stoneware slip-cast design, the ceramic birds inspired an instant grass roots collectible movement. The stoneware body and ceramic glazes are all original creations by the artists, created in a process that begins with raw materials sourced in the United States of America. Our distinctive ceramic birds make a unique addition for a ceramic home decor collection

American Ceramic Bird Art. The Stoneware Wren Figurine by Andersen Studio of Maine

The ceramic wren is three inches long- small in size, but remarkable in its artistic mastery of ceramic form and surface texture.

The Andersen Stoneware Wren Sculpture is an dynamically orchestrated rhythm of planes, curves and masses. The horizontal thrust of the beak counter balances the perpendicular angle of the tail. The wings slope downward in a swooping repetition of the curve of the bird's breast. The movement accelerates upward intersecting the flat angular tail before swooping across the level plane of the stoneware bird's back.

The stoneware wren is decorated with wax resist brushwork over our original ceramic brown decorating slip. The ceramic bird is then dipped in our white matte glaze. Theceramic wren sculpture is three inches long
