The
Andersen Stoneware Wren Sculpture is an dynamically orchestrated rhythm of
planes, curves and masses. The horizontal thrust of the beak counter balances
the perpendicular angle of the tail. The wings slope downward in a swooping
repetition of the curve of the bird's breast. The movement accelerates upward
intersecting the flat angular tail before swooping across the level plane of
the stoneware bird's back.
The stoneware wren is decorated with wax resist brushwork over our original
ceramic brown decorating slip. The ceramic bird is then dipped in our white
matte glaze. Theceramic wren sculpture is three inches long
