A comprehensive and collectible line of ceramic birds. Andersen Studio stoneware birds are classily American. Andersen Studio began as an innovator in American Ceramics Art and design in the mid-century. When the Andersens added ceramic birds to their popular line of handcrafted stoneware slip-cast design, the ceramic birds inspired an instant grass roots collectible movement. The stoneware body and ceramic glazes are all original creations by the artists, created in a process that begins with raw materials sourced in the United States of America. Our distinctive ceramic birds make a unique addition for a ceramic home decor collection

Handcrafted Ceramic River Otter on a Rock Sculpture designed by Christine Andersen Tupper for Andersen Studios Ceramic Marine Life Collection.

The Stoneware sea otter dynamically turns on a pivot that spirals outward from the tip of the tail and completes in an upward lifting gaze.

The Stoneware River Otter spirals around and faces skyward. The Otter’s muscular form is slinky and smooth. The ceramic sculpture is so animalistic that one can feel the weight of the body as it rests on the rock and holds a freshly caught fish its paws. The graceful turning of the form seduces the beholder to follow around the ceramic form, never to be disappointed in the dynamic dimensionality of this classic work of American ceramic nature art.

The ceramic River Otter is brushed with the our sandy brown decorating slip and accentuated with our shimmering ebony glaze. Variegated glazes are used on the rock to create a natural stone effect. The stoneware River Otter is six inches tall and is all handcrafted by American artisans

TThe Andersen Studio Ceramic River Otter is sleekand sensuous. One can feel the weight of the full and rounded belly as theRiver Otter reclines on a wet rock after catching its next meal. The formtwists and turns inviting the viewer to follow the spiraling movement aroundthe form. The stoneware River Otters tail curves inward as the headturns upward and gazes outward toward the world.

This naturalistic work of ceramic marine life art was sculpted by Christine Andersen Tupper. The River Otter is slip cast using the Andersens original red stoneware clay slip. After being bisque fired, the ceramic form is brushed with the Andersens sandy brown decorating slip and the chest is then painted in their matte white glaze. The feet and eyes are glazed in ebony. The Rock is spontaneously finished in a combination of glazes to create the effect of a wet rock. The Ceramic River Otter Sitting On A Rock is 6 inches tall.
