The Floating Gull Stoneware Sculpture by Andersen Studio. This handsome ceramic
seagull is the first wildlife sculpture created by Weston and Brenda Andersen
soon after they relocated from an urban environment to the coast of Maine in
the 1950’s. Finding themselves surrounded by the everyday beauty of the
rugged Maine coast, the Andersen’s were inspired to develop a line of
ceramic nature art. The Floating Gull is a subtly abstracted portrait of the
sea gulls that float on the Maine waters. The bird’s head is perfectly
proportioned. It is a classic seagull which rules the shoreline and is
archetypal even in nature. The pristine symbol of coastal living.
The seagull is slip cast and hand-crafted by Maine artisans, decorated in
soft shades of gray and black and Andersen’s signature white matte glaze.
The ceramic floating seagull is 11 inches long.
