A comprehensive and collectible line of ceramic birds. Andersen Studio stoneware birds are classily American. Andersen Studio began as an innovator in American Ceramics Art and design in the mid-century. When the Andersens added ceramic birds to their popular line of handcrafted stoneware slip-cast design, the ceramic birds inspired an instant grass roots collectible movement. The stoneware body and ceramic glazes are all original creations by the artists, created in a process that begins with raw materials sourced in the United States of America. Our distinctive ceramic birds make a unique addition for a ceramic home decor collection

The everlasting charm of the chickadee is rendered in stoneware by Andersen Studio of Maine. The sweet ceramic bird is all handcrafted by American artisans. Gentle shades of ceramic gray flow over the sides of the slip cast stoneware bird. The Chickadee=s dark head and tail are finished in an ebony glaze. The ceramic chickadee sculpture is three inches long.

Weston and Brenda Andersen showed this bird to a Japanese buyer, he said one word -"Shibui".

This exquisite little Chickadee is modelled from the birds we see darting across the Rhododendrons outside our kitchen window. The formal attire of the chickadee with its black cap and mascot with matching ebony wings and tail is the perfect subject for a ceramic bird sculpture. This is a round and plump chickadee full of vitality and alertness. It’s face looks upward toward the sky and is balanced by the upward tilted tail, as though it has stopped only for an instant, in his energetic dance, to look you straight in the eye. The chickadee is brushed with our flowing grey decorating colour that evokes but never mimics the natural coloration of the lovely chickadee.
