Andersen Stoneware Ceramic Birds are handcrafted by Maine artisans
using raw earth materials found in the United States of America.
Established in 1952 and carried on to this day as a second generation Family
business

Andersen Studio began as Ceramics by Andersen in 1952.
established by Ceramic Artist- Designers, Weston and Brenda Andersen
with the mission to make a hand made product affordable to the middle
classes
The Andersens moved from from urban environs to the coast of Maine
with a line of contemporary mid-century functional forms.
The natural influence of the Maine lifestyle inspired the line of Ceramic Birds
and Wildlife Sculpture.

Weston learned the ceramic slip-casting process in a landmark class
taught by Eva Zeizel in the Industrial Design department of Pratt Institute

The ceramic slip-casting process made it possible for the Andersens to create a
hand made product affordable to the middle classes- The time was the 1950's -
the age of plastics and the golden age of the American middle class
The Andersen Ceramic Bird Sculpture became an instant grass roots collectible
as collections were passed down from one generation to the next. A perfect
addition to the ceramic home decor collection for the natural home.
Andersen Studio Stoneware continues today with a second generation of
ceramic artist, designers and entrepreneurs
Elise Andersen, Susan Mackenzie Andersen, and Christine Andersen Tupper
