In Today's uncertain investment environment, ceramics offers an investment
opportunity that can easily be scaled to size. The raw materials for
manufacturing ceramics are found in the United States. Unlike many of the high
tech investments favored by government programs, ceramics does not depend upon
rare earth minerals sourced in China.
A small ceramic production studio offers mindful and engaging work, drawing
upon self reliant and often instinctual skills combined with scientific
discipline and analysis which is similarly characteristic of farming and
cooking. These are skills that can be learned inexpensively through self
motivation. They do not necessarily require years of "trained" academic study.
The science of ceramics can be learned in books. The "degree" of authority are
successful glazes, bodies, and ceramic designs.
A small ceramic slip casting studio can be set up in low income areas where the
cost of real estate is affordable and provide employment for the local
community. It can be owned independently or collectively. Mutually beneficial
networks can be developed among a group of sovereign studios- a challenging
goal but not impossible. A ceramic slip casting studio can be combined with a
retail gallery and perfect for "destination shopping". A successfull ceramic
studio can then become a "draw" for a community which can then support other
types of businesses.
Throughout our history, Andersen Studio has trained our employees in the skills
of the ceramic craft., as has the small cluster industryof ceramic studios that
has grown on and around Boothbay Peninsula in Maine. A ceramic production
studio can start small and grow larger, which works flexibly with today's
uncertain business environment. A time of slow growth can be used to develop
skills and new designs and glazes . The work itself is it's own reward. there
is allways something new to learn, making ceramics a healthy and involving work
process which promotes physical , mental, and spiritual well being - a natural
definition of meaningful work.
Andersen Studio clientele started collecting our work in the 1950's and passed
the collection on to following generations. The historical Andersen Studio
grass roots collectible movement translates easily into
contemporary
social media marketing
Throughout Andersen Design's history, we have been committed to crafting our
line in the United States. We continue to be committed to this goal. As a
viable marketing entity, we can provide work for independent production
studio's. Andersen Studio has designed a large and extensive line of ceramic
functional forms and wildlife sculpture since 1952. Our style is symbolic of
American individualism. It is an identifiable style which is marketable in a
manner similar to that of fashion design houses, which begin with an individual
designer who develops the brand and that brand is continued by a new generation
of designers of complimentary talent and vision.
Andersen Studio has developed a multi-layered line of products since 1952. All
of the products have retained their marketability in the decades that followed
. We have a line of wild life sculpture and a line of functional designs. We
have a series of mugs , which have never been introduced to the larger market.
There are endless creative and marketing possibilities in a successful line of
slip-cast ceramic designs.

Andersen Studio was established with the intent to create a hand made object
affordable to the middle classes but through out our history our line has been
sold in higher price point markets and art galleries. The essental business
model of Andersen Sudio- Andersen Design is unusally flexible and has the
adaptability to different marketing circumstances and environments like a
bicycle in a traffic jam.

future. Please note that this still remains a vision- and is not a plan-
for the plan to materialize there needs to be the emergence of a team of
interesting parties of varying skills and abilities.
